Since April, Katapult have been working with educational software developers, Softease, as they prepare to launch an all new exciting product, Textease Studio CT.

Softease, based in Ashbourne, have been continually developing Textease since its launch in 1995. Textease is a child-friendly word processor come desktop publishing program, commonly used in primary schools for an array of writing and publishing tasks. It is well known for its 'click anywhere and type' feature, and above all its flexibility and ease of use. Since the launch of Textease, Softease has extended their ease of use philosophy into other applications such as a spreadsheet, database, painting program and presentation package, among others. New release, Textease Studio CT (which stands for The Ultimate in Classroom Tools) will include nine applications in one, all with the same easy to use interface and developed with the primary curriculum in mind. New applications incorporated into Textease Studio CT will include a movie maker with video editing capability, a drawing package and a mutli-user database that will be a first in primary schools.

This product innovation presented Softease with a challenge; the expanded product family had outgrown its original brand system, and so needed rationalising and consolidating. One of the key requirements was a naming architecture that would retain the equity in the Textease brand and product names and which would make it easy to name future versions of the software.

Katapult were asked to assist with this process and, in collaboration with Softease's in-house designer, develop a new design system for the Textease product family.

he process was completed at the beginning of May, and with the product itself launching in July, expect to hear more updates on the rollout in due course.
