For the third consecutive biennial year, Katapult were appointed to develop festival marketing for the FORMAT International Photography Festival, including the development of Mob FORMAT, an online application that integrates seamlessly with Flickr to present a constantly evolving gallery, and which is fast becoming an integral part of the festival's online presence.
The brief for FORMAT11 was to engage wider audiences through the online experience, driving international visitors to the site and increasing photography submissions from amateur and professional photographers alike. Through improvements in accessibility – such as integration with Google Analytics and social networking sites as well as submission via mobile platforms - the application benefited from increased accessibility whilst the client is more easily able to manage and develop the application cost effectively for use at future events.
In four weeks the site received over 10,000 submissions; a 400% increase from FORMAT09, 9,000 referrals from Facebook and Twitter, a significant increase in submissions from outside the UK and over 6,000 visits per day.
